Night Lenses

What is a Night Lens?

Night lenses are contact lenses that you wear while sleeping. They are specialy designed to harmlessly, and naturally, re-shape the outer cell layer of your eye. Your eye naturally renews these cells every night into the lens to mould it into the correct shape. When you wake, you can enjoy the benefits of perfect vision* all day, without needing glasses or daytime contact lenses.

*Reverses after 24 hours. Repeat nightly. The lenses are only for those with a short-sightedness (myopia) of less than -5.00D.

How do Night lenses work?

The process is called Orthokeratology, so medically these are known as ‘Ortho-K’ lenses. Myopia (short sight) makes the eye oval rather than round, so the light focuses in the wrong place, causing blur.

Every night your cornea naturally sheds its outer layer of cells. While you sleep the new cells form into the mould of your custom fit night lens, creating a ‘round’ eye that focuses perfectly. Remove the lenses in the morning to clear sight. The process is harmless and reverses every night – simply repeat every night as part of your routine just as you would with daytime lenses.

Frequent questions

Do Night Vision lenses work?

Orthokeratology or “correction through corneal reshaping” is a principle that allows clear vision throughout the day without wearing contact lenses or glasses, thanks to lenses that are worn during the night.

How long does it take for Night Vision contacts to work?

Some people are able to get rid of their corrective lenses after a single night of treatment. However, if you or your child has a strong prescription, it may take a few days or two to three weeks for optimal results.

Do Night Vision lenses hurt?

Ortho-k lenses are uncomfortable at first. They don’t hurt, but you won’t forget that you’re wearing lenses like you might with a daily disposable soft lens.

How often should Night Vision lenses be replaced?

Generally speaking, the Orthokeratology lenses will have to be replaced every one to three years, depending on wear and tear. However, depending on other factors, such as protein buildup, or how well the lenses are taken care of, etc., the lenses may have to be replaced more or less frequently
