Ortho K is a vision correction provides a convenient way to give short sight people clear vision all waking hours.  The Ortho k lenses reshape the front of your eye while you sleep giving your Sharpe vision on waking.  This sharp daytime vision allows you to see without the aid of spectacles, contact lenses or corrective surgery.  Advantages of wearing no lenses or spectacles in the day is less dry eye, especially when using PC for work.  Also perfect for sports, especially swimming or water sports.  

The science behind how Ortho k lenses works with a high oxygen gas permeable lens developed with special surface curves that gently reshape the cornea of the eye.  Exact measurements are taken of your eye, so the night lens design will change the shape of the cornea allowing perfect vision for at least 24 hours.

Ortho k lenses not only give excellent vision, but evidence has shown ortho k lenses slow down myopic change in children.  Data has shown 60% slow down in short sighted change in children from 7 to 24 years old and 1 in 5 have shown complete halt in myopic changes.  This reduction in short tightness will reduce the risk of retinal detachments and other eye conditions with higher myopic prescriptions.

The process of buying Ortho k lenses starts with an up to date sight test.  Then our contact lens specialist will take measurements of your eye with a corneal topographer and axial eye length.  The topographer maps the contours of your cornea to allow the lens to made exact.  The axial eye length is measured to track the eye length changes that normally happens during child myopia and prove that ortho K lenses are slowing the eye length growth down..

Lenses are ordered to the measurements sent to the manufacturer and normally take around a week to arrive.  Two appointments are required, one for insertion and removal lessons and a check within 24 hours to check on progress.  Two further appointments are required on 1 week and 4 weeks.  At this point we would expect corrected vision.

Initial charge for the first month is £150.  Once happy with your corrected vision a direct debit is set up at £45 per month.  This includes new lenses every 6 months, 2 extra lenses a year due to loss or damage , soaking and cleaning solutions and aftercare.
